September Update
Training Report - Mike
We have toned down our training over the past few months as we take a bit of a summer break. Our July training focused on a spirited debate on the topic “Should marijuana be legalized?” It was a very enjoyable training session for all and provided a chance for members to practice their arguing skills. August’s training was a few short quizzes designed to help you learn what type of manager you are.
Now that summer is ending and we are heading into fall we will be back in the swing of things with some more serious training sessions. September’s training is tentatively scheduled to be led by our president Joey Hoechsmann teaching us all about the importance of customer service. September will also be a chance for any members that are going to Nationals to receive some invaluable training during the National conference in Calgary. Topics for training at Nationals can be found at http://nationals.jcicalgary.com/
Hope everyone has had a great summer.

Regional Report: Jackie
Summer is drawing to a close and I still think of September as time to
get 'back to reality'! For some of you, its time to return to school - for
yourself or your kids, and its also time to get back into gear with regards to
extra curricular things - like JCI Kootenay! If you are not a member, please
find a way to drop in on a business meeting, social event or one of the
exciting networking events that the chapter will be hosting in the coming
months! If you are a member, think about enriching your experience by getting
MORE involved. Nominations and elections for the chapter executive are coming
up fast. Growing doesn't happen unless you try something you never have
before!
My JCI experiences have been very rewarding but each one occurred as a result
of a leap of faith - and a supportive group of people around me. And now, you
could say I'm pretty involved at both the regional and national level (!), but
its only because I'm getting SO much back out of the organization as a result
of my involvement. If you are looking for personal growth - join the chapter -
it is an amazing resource. If you are a member but not getting what you need
out of the organization - get more involved in order to create opportunities
that work for you!
Yours in JCI Spirit,
Jackie Ward

Summer/Fall Social Report
Over the course of the summer it often becomes more difficult to schedule all the different activities we have going on in our lives. JCI social events have had a fantastic turnout and I want to thank everyone who has attended them! In July we had a great overnight camping summer party at Lake Koocanusa at Englishmen's Creek. There was boating, fishing, tubing, wakeboarding, good eats as well as some good stories around the campfire. Luckily the campfire ban that we experienced later on in the summer hadn't taken effect yet! August rolled around and a recreational round of golf at Way-Lyn Ranch golf course was enjoyed by quite a few members of the group. Last weekend a small contingency braved the WARM weather at Mineral Lake for an evening of different accuracy tests with small propulsionary devices. Also, anyone in attendance is now the owner of a fantastic new ball cap! Coming up on the radar is a festive Friday and on October 27th look out for a Fort Steele family activity as well as an adult party later on! As always, any suggestions or questions please contact me! Have a fantastic autumn.
