The President’s Report – April 2009 - Mike Adams
We are one quarter done the year now. A bit of information on what has been happening:
Training – so far this year our training has been comprised of lunch with politician, JCI 101, Robert’s Rules of Order and effective speaking. Thanks to Steve Stockwood, VP of Training, for organizing some great training every month.
Social – We have had our President’s dinner, had a box at a Kootenay Ice game, we have had a group participate in Big Brothers’ Big Sisters’ Bowl for Kids, not to mention our monthly social after our meetings and some lunches throughout the months. Thanks goes to Lee Tengum, VP of Social, for your work so far. Thanks also to Elizabeth Ahlgren for getting us involved with the Bowl for Kids Sake and Lana Kirk for planning the President’s Dinner.
Projects – We have our 2 chairs in place for our upcoming projects and plans are underway for both the Sam Steele Ball Tournament (Steve Stockwood) and the All Candidate’s Forum (Cameron Bell).
Conferences – We have our biggest contingent from the chapter ever going to a regional conference next month in Vernon – there maybe over 10 members going! Plans are almost complete for attending the Area C Conference in Puerto Rico as well. National President Leslie Shore is finding an individual to head up the Canadian contingent. It sounds like there will be over 10 members from Alberta and another six from BC, plus members from other parts of the country.
Judging by that summary, I think it’s safe to say we have had a busy first quarter, and things will not be slowing down the rest of the year! If you have any concerns with the chapter or the executive throughout the year please talk to me.
